Urgent help

Depression

Depression generally refers to a long period (at least two weeks) of persistent low mood, sadness, boredom, hopelessness, fatigue, and reduced interest in previously enjoyable activities. Some people may experience thoughts of self-harm or suicide.

Fortunately, depression is highly treatable, and many people who seek help improve significantly. Our Depression treatment program uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), providing practical skills to manage symptoms, break negative cycles, and help you feel better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who will find this program helpful?

This program is helpful for people who are feeling persistently sad, low, unmotivated, or overwhelmed, and are struggling to enjoy or manage daily life. It’s designed for individuals experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of depression who want to learn practical strategies to lift their mood.

What will I learn in the program?

You’ll learn how to break the cycle of negative thinking, improve your mood, and gradually re-engage with activities you’ve been avoiding. The program teaches practical CBT strategies to help you challenge unhelpful thoughts, manage low motivation, and build healthier habits. You’ll also gain tools to prevent relapse and maintain your mental wellbeing over time.

How long does the program take?

The program consists of six modules, and it's recommended to complete one module every 1-2 weeks, allowing time to practice the skills learned.

How much does the program cost?

The program is free if prescribed by a clinician registered with THIS WAY UP. If you choose to enrol independently via the self-help pathway, a fee of AUD $59 applies.

‍

We've also partnered with selected private health insurers to give you free access to one of our mental health treatment programs.

What kind of support will I receive?

If your clinician prescribes the program, they can monitor your progress and wellbeing scores, providing support as needed. If you enrol as 'self-help', the program is fully automated, and while technical assistance is available, there is no clinical support.

What if I have both anxiety and depression?

If you're experiencing symptoms of both anxiety and depression, THIS WAY UP offers a combined Anxiety and Depression Program that addresses both sets of symptoms concurrently.
