Who can register as a clinician?
Any registered health professional in Australia, such as GPs, psychologists, psychiatrists, and allied health providers, can sign up for free to prescribe and monitor programs. If you are not able to provide clinical support yourself, you can recommend that your clients complete our programs as ‘self-help’ without prescribing them.
How much do the programs cost?
Programs are free when prescribed by a clinician. If a patient enrols independently via the self-help pathway, a fee of AUD $59 applies.
What is the difference between 'self-help' and 'supervised' programs?
Self-help programs are completed independently by the patient, while supervised programs involve clinician oversight, allowing for progress monitoring and support.
Are the programs suitable for patients with mental illness?
Yes! The programs are designed for individuals with mild to severe anxiety and depressive disorders. However, they may not be suitable as standalone treatments for:
- those who are currently suicidal or are at risk of harming themselves or others.
- those with acute symptoms of bipolar disorder, psychosis, or schizophrenia.
- those who are regularly taking benzodiazepines and/or atypical antipsychotics.
- those with acute substance use disorders.
- those in severe distress or currently managing acutely stressful life circumstances
What happens when I prescribe a program?
Clinicians can prescribe programs through the Clinician Dashboard by entering the patient's details. The patient receives an email with instructions to start the program, and the clinician can monitor their progress.
What is required from me after I prescribe a program?
Clinicians are encouraged to schedule regular consultations, especially for patients with moderate to severe symptoms, to support adherence and address any concerns during the program. You will also receive an automated email ‘alert’ should one of your clients score highly on a measure of distress (K10) and/or depression (PHQ9).
Which program should I prescribe if my client would benefit from more than one?
Clinicians should assess the patient's primary concerns and select the most appropriate program accordingly. As comorbidity is common, if your client presents with both low mood and anxiety symptoms, you could consider prescribing the Depression and Anxiety Program to start with (this is our most enrolled-in program.)
What support do my clients receive when completing your programs?
Clients receive automated emails and reminders throughout the program. In supervised programs, clinicians can provide additional support and monitor progress via the Clinician Dashboard. The team at THIS WAY UP provides technical support but does not monitor individuals as they complete their programs or provide personalised clinical advice.
Does THIS WAY UP offer continuing professional development (CPD) for health professionals?
THIS WAY UP provides a range of continuing professional development (CPD) for health professionals in the clinician dashboard including The CBT Foundations for Clinicians course, a free, self-directed online educational activity ACRRM accredited for 6 hours of CPD and available on demand.
