What Happens In An iCBT Session?
iCBT sessions can vary based on the provider. All iCBT courses, however, will follow a set structure, developed to most efficiently address the needs of the user, and to follow best practice, clinical guidelines.
This Way Up, for instance, offers courses with sessions that are structured in the following manner:
Our online questionnaires help to establish how you are feeling. Results from the questionnaires are then relayed back to your clinician after each lesson. If you are undertaking a self-guided course, you will be notified by THIS WAY UP if your scores are above the normal range.
Our lessons are in a comic based format, where you can follow the journey of a character as they learn practical skills to combat depression or anxiety. They also learn how to maintain these skills, manage difficulties in getting better, and prevent symptoms from returning.
Download our summaries and activities to reinforce what you learnt in each lesson.
Download additional activities and information that you can complete between lessons.
Read real life stories about how others overcame their depression or anxiety.
Schedule your next lesson using our online calendar and we’ll send you reminders for your next lesson.
How Effective Is iCBT?
Through conducting a large number of randomised clinical trials, This Way Up have found that 80% of people who complete their iCBT courses will respond well to treatment, 50% to the point of no longer being troubled by their anxiety or depression.
Further research beyond these clinical trials has confirmed the effectiveness of iCBT in the treatment of anxiety and depression.
This shows the benefits of iCBT are long lasting than medication and equivalent to traditional CBT. It is recommended that iCBT be practiced in conjunction with prescribed medication, as this provides an even stronger likelihood of recovery.
How Much Does iCBT Cost?
iCBT is substantially less expensive than traditional methods of treatment. This Way Up offers iCBT courses, for instance, that cost less than a single trip to a psychologist. You can learn more about the cost involved, along with the specific structure, research, and recovery stories, by taking a look at the course that is most suited to you.
